The GATA is an organization committed to education of its members and enhancement of the profession of athletic training, leading to better healthcare for the population we serve.

Athletic Trainers (ATs) in Georgia are licensed health care providers with extensive education and training. They deliver comprehensive care in partnership with physicians, following the standards and regulations set by the state.

These professionals play a vital role in the health and safety of physically active individuals across a range of environments—including schools, clinics, the military, industrial settings, and beyond.

The scope of athletic training includes the prevention, assessment, and management of injuries and medical conditions, whether sudden or long-term. Recognized as an allied health profession by the American Medical Association (AMA), the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), and the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), athletic training is an essential part of the modern health care team.
