The 2018 GATA Annual Meeting and Symposium will be held January 19-21,2018 at the Middle Georgia State University Conference Center in Macon, GA. This year’s symposium provides attendees important educational opportunities, business meeting, a social at the Macon Mayhem Hockey Game, and networking opportunities. Topics include cervical spine injury management, Emergency Medicine on the Sidelines, lower extremity mechanics, current concepts in management of ankle instability, an updated perspective on the care of concussions in athletics, and working with the media. Keynote speakers include Dr Robin Hines of the Georgia High School Association, Dr Jason Mihalik of the Matthew Gfeller Sport-Related Traumatic Brain Injury Research Center, and Mr Nick Pappas of Florida State University. The program is intended to provide entry-level and experienced Athletic Trainers opportunities to learn new skills and techniques on a variety of sports medicine related topics, as well as gain knowledge on issues important to the practice of athletic healthcare. Learning objectives: Sessions are geared to cover injury recognition, prevention and wellness protection, clinical evaluation and diagnosis, immediate and emergency care, rehabilitation and organizational and professional well-being. Cancellation/refund policy: Cancellations must be in writing to qualify for refund and submitted to GATA Treasurer. Cancellation request received two weeks prior to the start of the scheduled meeting = full refund minus $5 processing fee. Cancellation request received one week prior to start of scheduled meeting = 50% refund. Cancellation request received <7 days prior to start of the meeting = No refund. Attending the entire conference will include 13.5 CEUs. Registration: Discounted early registration rates start at $125 for certified members and $80 for students.
